Finance Bill
The Finance Bill 2017-19 was published on 8 September together with explanatory notes.
Tax payments
From 15 December 2017, it will not be possible to make tax payments at a post office. HMRC has updated the following guides: Pension Scheme Administrators: how to pay tax, Pay Contributions Equivalent Premiums and Pay Other HMRC Taxes, Penalties or Enquiry Settlements.
Childcare
Taxpayers unable to access tax-free childcare through their childcare account for technical reasons may be able to claim compensation. See here.
Contracting out
The latest issue of HMRC’s Countdown Bulletin is available.
CTA qualification
The Chartered Institute of Taxation is making changes to the chartered tax adviser examinations. Transitional provisions for existing students will be in place. For details, see here.
Women in Tax
The next Women in Tax events will be an afternoon meeting on 20 September from 5.30pm at Deloitte, Manchester, and a breakfast meeting starting at 8am on 21 September at Grant Thornton, Leicester.
