Great weekly team effort to produce Taxation
This is the last issue of Taxation for 2024. It’s been quite a year in the world of tax – who would have expected that the centre of London could be brought to a standstill by tractor-driving farmers protesting against inheritance tax charges?
As ever I will be presenting my full review of the year, as seen through the eyes of Taxation, in the first issue of the new year. I don’t want to pre-empt that here so instead I will use my column this week to publicly thank the editorial team behind the magazine.
As you can imagine it is no easy feat to produce a magazine every week with the right balance of news, cases and articles and to keep thinks fresh as we edge ever closer to our centenary in 2027.
So, thanks first to my deputy editor Allison Plager whose wealth of experience built up over many years of working on the magazine makes sure that everything runs smoothly. She has the rare skill of being able to nudge me back onto the straight and narrow if I am in danger of going off on a flight of fantasy. Bea Brockhurst, our commissioning editor, keeps the flow of articles coming in every week and she also manages to ensure that we always have replies to forum questions – her powers of persuasion are legendary. And finally Nick Raad, our assistant editor, has an unrivalled knowledge of the behind-the-scenes secrets of our production processes and IT systems.
They are a great team to work with and they bring so much to the magazine – I certainly couldn’t do my job without them. So on my own behalf but also on behalf of all of our readers, I give them my heartfelt thanks.
