If you had asked someone in the 1980s to name a dodgy car dealer they would probably have gone for the fictional Arthur Daley from Minder. The show was so popular that you could even buy an Arthur Daley Motors tax disc holder for your car.

Arthur also inspired a song from novelty band The Firm which included the spoken lines:
