This is a succinct guide to the use of trusts in tax planning focusing on the impact of inheritance capital gains and income on various arrangements.

The topic is often approached from a highly legal standpoint but this book is written clearly with the general tax practitioner in mind.

Changes in legislation over recent years have significantly curtailed the opportunities for tax planning with trusts but author John Woolley shows there are still opportunities to be explored.

The content is up to the minute including comments on the potential application of the general anti-abuse rule and possible changes in next year's Finance Act as regards the inheritance rules for relevant property trusts.

I had expected the book to focus largely on the use of trusts in relation to life assurance products but it has much wider scope.
