I refer to Alan Taylor’s letter on trust return processing delays.
I used the facility on the HMRC website to reduce the payments on account to what I had calculated and this actually worked. The client’s account was updated and the July payment then cleared the remaining tax due.
This was time consuming, but perhaps less so than the problem which Mr Taylor has had to deal with.
It mystifies me why HMRC have not resolved the online filing issues for trust tax returns and this year has seen numerous additional problems. Surely Carter should be taking the initiative.
