Use of reliefs by private firms remains low, finds survey

Private companies in the UK are calling for a more stable certain tax environment in which to conduct their business successfully according to PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The latest survey by the big four accountancy company has found that two-thirds of private firms do not believe that the country’s tax regime supports and encourages enterprise despite the range of tax reliefs available and measures introduced in this year’s Budget.

The newly published findings of the poll – the third annual Enterprising UK study – show a mixed picture in awareness levels of reliefs. Usage remain relatively low said PwC although it needs to be remembered that a number of tax reliefs are targeted at specific problems and so would not be expected to be relevant across a broad population.
