Backlog to clear by mid-September
HMRC have revealed that for agents who used the online agent authorisation (64-8) service since the beginning of July there may be some delay in processing the application and updating department's records.
The Revenue expects to clear its backlog by mid-September, and ask that agents do not submit a duplicate authorisation request for the time being.
HMRC are 'undertaking a fundamental review of all of our processes for agent authorisation' and say they will 'be consulting with agent representatives about this and will be able to provide further details by the end of the year'.
