The eagle has landed

Although it was ‘one giant leap for mankind’ it seems hard to believe that in the 50 years since Neil Armstrong first set foot on the Moon only 11 others followed in his footsteps and more than half the world’s population were not alive when that historic event took place. Growing up at that time humanity seemed destiny for a bright new future when anything was possible. Perhaps this anniversary will provide some fresh impetus and ambition.

Back then it seemed that the world would be driven by people with vision. We have seen some of them – Jobs Bezos Musk Zuckerberg are a few names that come to mind – but is part of the problem that the tax systems have not kept pace with the wealth that new ‘disruptive’ businesses are able to generate and that they are only now slowly playing catch-up...
