Professionals expect access to AI tools

Tax professionals are demanding improved access to AI tools and better training to accelerate AI integration according to new research from Tolley. More than a third fear their careers will be affected if their firms do not adequately invest in AI.

The survey of more than 350 UK tax professionals revealed a rise in the use of generative AI for work increasing from 35% to 40% since the last Tolley survey in May 2024. The number of tax professionals planning to adopt AI has risen from 32% to 49% while those with no plans to adopt AI fell from 33% to 8%.

To encourage adoption of AI tools nearly two-thirds of tax practitioners emphasised the need for additional training with 47% also advocating for improved communication on use guidelines and 40% wanting better integration with existing workflows.
