The Social Security (Contributions) (Rates, Limits and Thresholds Amendments and National Insurance Funds Payments) Regulations SI 2022/232 give effect to the annual re-rating of National Insurance contributions rates, limits and thresholds from 6 April 2022.
The new rates are as follow (the 2021-22 rates are given in brackets).
Class 1:
- lower earnings limit: £123 (£120)
- primary threshold: £190 (£184)
- secondary threshold: £175 (£170)
- upper earnings limit and upper secondary thresholds for the under 21s, relevant apprentices and qualifying veterans: £967 a week (£967)
Class 2:
- flat rate: £3.15 a week (£3.05)
- small profits threshold: £6,725 a year (£6,515)
Class 3:
- flat rate: £15.85 a week (£15.40)
Class 4:
- lower annual profits limit: £9,880 (£9,568)
- upper annual profits limit £50,270 (£50,270)
