Making tax digital will not benefit clients, survey finds

Implementing making tax digital for income tax (MTD ITSA) will be expensive with little benefit to clients. These were among the findings of the 2023-24 annual ‘Tell ABAB’ online survey which received a record number of responses – 10 052 – representing a 34% increase over last year. Of the responses 84% came from businesses and 16% from agents.

The survey found that awareness of MTD ITSA is low with only 33.3% of respondents describing themselves as being very aware or aware. However it is not clear how many of the businesses who responded are companies or partnerships and so will not be directly affected by MTD ITSA.
