R40 refunds

HMRC has updated its guidance on applying for a repayment of tax on savings interest using form R40. It has added information about payment protection insurance and confirmed it will accept digital signatures on the print and post form.

High-risk jurisdictions

The Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (High-Risk Countries) (Amendment) (No 2) Regulations SI 2023/1306 update the list of high-risk third countries for which the regulated sector needs to apply enhanced due diligence. Bulgaria Cameroon Croatia Nigeria South Africa and Vietnam have been added to the list. Albania Cayman Islands Jordan and Panama have been removed.
