Another year is over: ‘Oh yes it is.’ ’Oh no it’s not.’ All right fair comment 2024 will not quite be over by the time this article is published. And what a disappointing year it has been in the world of the nation’s favourite tax as dull as eating a melted ice cream on a rainy day at a northern seaside resort. So I will round off 2024 with some of my favourite VAT tips. Hopefully they will be like a bundle of Christmas presents with a few good ones that will give you seasonal joy but don’t ask for a refund on those you don’t like. I’ve included a couple of Christmas crackers helped by our favourite characters from the pantomimes.
