Customs training

Businesses can apply for grants to fund training and information technology improvements connected with completion of customs declarations in preparation for the UK leaving the EU. PwC will administer the grants on HMRC’s behalf.

Tax treaty with Poland

HMRC has published the synthesised text of the UK’s double taxation convention with Poland as modified by the base erosion and profit shifting multilateral instrument (MLI). The MLI came into force for the UK on 1 October and for Poland on 1 July.

Road fuel scale charges

The EU has approved the UK’s request to extend until December 2020 its VAT directive derogation allowing employers to use HMRC’s road fuel scale charges to account for VAT on private use of company cars.
