2025: A Tax Odyssey – file your return from space

One has to admire the ingenuity that went into the project to submit the first making tax digital (MTD) return from space (see tinyurl.com/37k7f2y2). I must confess when I first saw it that I thought it was an April fool. Of course ‘space’ is quite an elastic term and they didn’t exactly file from the moon but still I thought that this was a fun story to bring a bit of humour to the often contentious issue of MTD. It also made me wonder how they managed to get a good signal when the Wi-Fi at my apartment in the centre of Nottingham is so hit and miss.

This is not the first tax-related space story. You may not have realised that there was a tax angle to the Apollo 13 story. When mission control gave the crew its news round-up for 2 April 1970...
