International Women’s Day

This week’s issue of Taxation coincides with International Women’s Day. To mark the occasion all the articles have been written by women – including this column. In itself this proves nothing – women often write for Taxation but it is relatively rare for an issue to be solely penned by women.

For more than 100 years 8 March has celebrated the social economic cultural and political achievements of women. The theme this year is #PressforProgress. Equality and the treatment of women have been in the headlines a lot in recent months fuelled by movements such as #MeToo and #TimesUp.
