GAAR panel

The general anti-abuse rule panel has issued three documents giving its view of gold bullion schemes used by three taxpayers. The panel concluded it was ‘abnormal for an employer to reward employees using gold’. The outcome will be explored in a future issue of Taxation.

 

Foreign entertainers

HMRC has published a list of approved payers in the middleman scheme.

 

Corporation tax

HMRC is seeking comments on draft guidance covering the reform of corporation tax loss relief. These should be emailed here by 25 September. The Revenue has also published draft guidance on the new corporate interest restriction rules. Comments on this should be emailed to here by 31 October.
