GOV.UK has a content problem. Why are we not surprised ?

Have you met a tax adviser who thinks GOV.UK is a good website? By ‘good’ I mean it is easy to navigate the information is clear complete and set out in a useful way and provides the detail needed. Of course not. GOV.UK is a terrible website – at least for users who need it for professional or work purposes. It is great for renewing vehicle tax and SA online is pretty good too. But those are not the sole purposes of the website.

Finding stuff on it is difficult to hopeless. On arriving at the HMRC page users wishing to search a tax matter have to type say ‘church vat’ in a general search box that combs the entire GOV.UK website rather than just HMRC.
