Tax credits

HMRC has agreed with Concentrix to end their contract with immediately. All 181 000 cases HMRC took back from Concentrix have been finalised. and some 250 Concentrix staff have transferred to HMRC.\

 

Avoidance

A brief guide to the serial tax avoidance rules (FA 2016 Sch 18) has been published by HMRC. The rules introduce new sanctions for users of schemes that are defeated on or after 6 April 2017 and apply to taxpayers who entered into the arrangements on or after 15 September 2016.

 

Deposit protection

The Bank of England has launched a consultation on restoring the Financial Services Compensation Scheme deposit protection limit to £85 000 up from £75 000. The proposed change would be from 30 January 2017.
