State pension forecast
I recently suggested that a client should obtain a state pension forecast. Reading this I noticed that there is specific wording which I believe is misleading and incorrect especially for anyone not having an agent to represent them.
The forecast states:
‘When you reach £155.65 you still need to pay National Insurance until 2025 as it funds other state benefits and the National Health Service.’
While we may all agree that morally this is a good attitude to have those who have profits below the class 2 and class 4 limits do not have to pay National Insurance if they choose not to.
I do not believe HMRC (which should be politically neutral) should be advising taxpayers along these lines.
