  • Have you looked through HMRC’s consultation on the proposed changes to the existing disclosure of tax avoidance schemes hallmark regulations describing inheritance tax? Might they affect your clients? Consider submitting a response – by 13 July.

 

  • The moral of the decision in Oliver (TC5180) is always to ensure that it is clear who will submit the stamp duty land tax return after a transaction. If it is not you double-check that the form has been filed a few days before the deadline.

 

  • The Brexit vote might mean that non-resident UK nationals decide to return to their home country sooner than they might have planned when leaving. Such clients may need revised advice on the various income capital gains and inheritance tax implications of resuming UK residence.
