Put your client admin into motion.
- It is tax credit renewal time. Have you contacted all those clients who claim tax credits to remind them of the 31 July deadline? Make sure they know renewals can be made online.
- In Auxilium (TC5024) the First-tier Tribunal decision highlighted that taxpayers can and do make honest and unwitting mistakes and HMRC should not inevitably take the worst view. This is always worth impressing on the Revenue if mistakes come to light.
- When it is necessary to call HMRC for information about self-assessment tax credits or a client’s debt remember the dedicated lines specifically for tax advisers . These should provide a more relevant and faster service than the normal taxpayer helplines.
- Even if you believe none of your clients will be affected by the anti-avoidance measures in Finance Bill 2016 stay up to date...
