There has been a great deal of press comment about the fact that Google will be settling its past UK corporation tax liability by paying £130m. The general view appears to be that this is not enough – some of it ill-informed outrage and some of it at least based on guesstimated figures as to Google’s UK taxable profits in the relevant period.
Perhaps though it is time to cut through the misinformation and ignorance and consider the facts. As a tax...
