What to do this week

  • The new pensions flexibility is not straightforward. If you have clients who receive credits and plan to use pension savings explain the implications to them of that action on their other income so that they are aware of the tax and tax credit consequences.
     
  • In Couldwell Concrete Flooring Ltd the taxpayer’s appeal against information notices met with limited success in that the First-tier Tribunal ruled that some of HMRC’s wording was vague and ambiguous. Always check that such notices are clearly and accurately written and consider questioning them if they are not.
