Agent Update

HMRC have published the December issue of Agent Update, which includes:

  • CT agent authorisation: agents have reported cases where two different authorisation codes had been issued in respect of CT online agent authorisation requests, which resulted in the client receiving two authorisation codes with the same expiry date. One code worked and the other did not. HMRC’s IT partners have said that this issue has been resolved.
  • PAYE credit letters: several issues were reported about the real-time information PAYE credit letter. HMRC apologise that an unclear letter was used and confirm that no similar letters should now be received.
  • Restructure: HMRC report that they have restructured their team of working together co-ordinators and now have nine dedicated co-ordinators whose primary role is the support and smooth delivery of local working together.

RPI

Following a successful trial with selected agents, HMRC have announced that they will no longer send the complaints factsheet C/FS to agents who complain about self assessment or income tax. Instead, they will explain in their letters where to find the relevant information on HMRC’s website.
