TaxAid

TaxAid has two positions available on its intern programme for tax-trained professionals who need training and support back into paid work. This has been so successful that replacements are now needed. Internships typically last three to six months, with two to three days a week in the office. The objective is to enable participants to update and broaden their tax knowledge and client-facing skills while doing valuable work for this charity. Footie probe

HMRC have launched a detailed investigation into the tax affairs of football clubs and have issued a 16-page questionnaire.

Former CEO dies

Dame Lesley Strathie, former chief executive officer and permanent secretary at HMRC, died on 14 January following treatment for cancer.
