AAM letters

HMRC agent account managers are sending letters to some tax agents and advisers. This is in conjunction with a telephone campaign. The intention is to explain what services the team provides and the benefits for both agents and their clients.

Isle of Man

The EU Code of Conduct Group has agreed in principle that the Isle of Man’s business tax system will no longer be considered harmful if it goes ahead with its proposed withdrawal of the attribution regime for individuals. Abolition of this regime from April 2012 was announced by the island’s Treasury minister Anne Craine in her Budget speech in February this year and endorsed overwhelmingly by Tynwald.

VAT in Italy

On 17 September 2011, the standard VAT rate in Italy increased from 20% to 21%.

RPI

The value of the retail prices index for July 2011 is 234.7 and for August 2011 is 236.1.

SAYE bonus rates

Changes are being made to bonus rates for save-as-you-earn share option schemes (sometimes referred to as ‘share save’) that will maintain them in line with other interest rates.
