We have received enquiries from readers regarding the non-operation of HMRC’s corporation tax online filing service when the return relates to financial year 2011.

HMRC have provided the following information.

‘No company with an accounting period ending on or after 1 April 2011 is required to file their return until April 2012 - by then the new corporation tax rates will have been updated.

‘If there is no tax to pay the company can file online before the rates are updated in October. If there is tax due and the company has an urgent need to file before October they should contact HMRC for further advice.’
