The Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) has expanded the portfolio of qualifications it offers to tax professionals by adding a transfer pricing certificate
It is available as a standalone achievement or as part of the CIOT’s advanced diploma in international taxation (ADIT). It can be gained by passing a supervised, three-hour written examination held once a year in 200 locations across 140 countries.
Study options are flexible – there are no required courses and no training organisation – which makes the paper ideal for individuals with busy schedules, said the CIOT.
The professional body’s Richard Collier of the ADIT sub-committee said the new qualification ‘meets the needs of specialists from professional services firms, multinational corporations, tax authorities, and academics who specialise in transfer pricing and are looking for a global benchmark.
‘Compliance with the differing requirements of multiple overlapping tax jurisdictions has become a complicated and expensive task. In response… tax authorities around the world have become more aggressive in the transfer pricing arena.
‘This intense scrutiny implies significant risks for the unwary and the unprepared, particularly in a complex field such as transfer pricing,’ added Mr Collier, a tax partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
