An accountant is considering taking his wife into partnership with him as a tax mitigation exercise, but there are concerns as to the tax implications

I was talking to a fellow accountant recently and he was telling me about some plans for the practical and financial development of his practice.

He has built the business up from scratch over the past ten years or so and seems to be doing very well.

He is a sole trader and has a number of staff dealing with accounts preparation audit and tax.

The practice appears to be run very professionally and he has a receptionist secretaries and a bookkeeper who maintains the business records.

He mentioned that part of his plan was to take his wife into practice with him to mitigate his tax liabilities.

There does not appear to be any work for her to do and she has no experience or qualifications in accountancy taxation or indeed office management.
