The first edition of this excellent book came out in October 2008 and here it is already in its second edition. We now have the Corporation Tax Act 2009 and FA 2009 to think about. (The first edition dealt rather hastily with the FA 2008 changes.)

The book does not cover VAT but that is probably best dealt with separately.

The first thing to be said is that a tax system which needs a 460-page book to describe the taxation of small business and which has to be updated every year seems to have something wrong with it.

And it’s not just the tax system: the author also feels it necessary to mention for example UITF40 so the absurdities of accounting principles impinge as well....
