Problem with online payment details

I have been alerted to this ‘cobweb’ and thought you might want to alert people to it sooner rather than waiting for the next cobweb article.

HMRC changed their bank account for VAT from 8 July. The new sort code is 08-32-00 the account number is 11963155.

This is stated correctly on the HMRC site under ‘how to pay VAT by internet telephone banking or BACS direct credit.’

However if you file your VAT return online the final page says ‘thank you for sending your VAT return… any tax due must be paid electronically... payment must be made to sort code 10.00.00 account number 52055000’: i.e. the old pre-change account.
