The expiry date of pre-paid envelopes

As all of you will be aware HMRC no longer issue pre-paid envelopes.

Although not in the spirit of wanting to shore up the Treasury’s coffers so they can waste even more of a taxpayer’s (i.e. my) money does anyone know if there is a time limit by which the piles of old pre-paid envelopes we have accumulated in the office over the years can be used?

We ran this by HMRC and received the following information which should bring joy to the ears of Mr Scrooge his partners and anyone else interested in recycling:

‘There are no plans at the moment to impose a time limit on the old pre-paid envelopes.

'However the address on the pre-paid VAT envelope has now changed and so envelopes with the new address have been supplied.
