Nostalgia: it can be catching. So many people harp on about 'old days' and how life was so much better then that we almost end up believing them.

For example are a zillion television channels so much better than four? Definitely not I would say. You can flick through those zillion channels all night without finding something decent to watch.

So it is with HMRC. Those of us who used to work in an old Revenue district recall the good old days of concards(!) knowing our taxpayers and employers and the occasional week of training. Life for HMRC is not quite the same.
