We've all had to deal with an awkward customer. RICHARD CURTIS wonders how to keep cool when things hot up

Where would we all be without our clients? Substantially poorer and working somewhere else presumably; but every business relies on customers for its very existence so it is probably sensible that we should make every effort to get on with them.

However if we're really honest with ourselves there are probably some clients who do make our hearts sink a little when the phone rings and the receptionist tells us that they are waiting to see us.

With tax return preparation time now starting again we will all no doubt be seeing rather more of our clients over the coming months. Among them will be some of the more 'difficult' ones so what's the best way of dealing with them?
