Small and sweet is a phrase that might be applied to the indirect taxes market. If you are looking for a job in VAT then you are in luck.

There are some good quality jobs to be had but not enough good quality candidates to fill them. So now is a good time to go shopping for a job in indirect taxes.

Manager level candidates are among the most sought after and packages tend to be equivalent to corporate tax ones. Good people command a premium especially when they are few in number.

Certainly 2007 was an excellent year for VAT people says Steve Skeates of Integral Search. The big four in particular hired 'as many VAT practitioners as I can recall in the last few years' he says.
