HMRC warns of P6 misprint

Misleading instruction in final sentence in some online notices

HMRC have advised that there is a misleading instruction contained on some online P6 tax code notices issued since the begiining of February.

The final sentence currently reads: 'Please use this tax code from the next pay day for the year to 5 April 2007'.

However, it should say: 'Please use this tax code from the next pay day following the effective date shown above'.

HMRC apologised and said they were working to correct the text on future P6s.
