'Political posturing has damaged HMRC'

Tax expert Mark Lee has attacked the 'political posturing' that has resulted in major job losses at HMRC.

In an article for Taxation Mr Lee a tax author and the founder of the Tax Advice Network cites the magazine's petition on its Stop the Staff Cuts campiagn site.

He urges readers to add their name should they feel that the next round of redundancies planned at the Revenue 'will be harmful to the efficiency of the tax system'.

Mark a past chairman of the ICAEW's Tax Faculty highlights how 'staff numbers are being decimated' following the extension of HMRC's ten-year Change programme which was originally scheduled to be completed in 2002 but has instead 'continued apace'.

Taxation's Stop the Staff Cuts campaign was launched in November last year.
