RICHARD CURTIS wonders if 'e-mail bankruptcy' is the answer to insurmountable communication problems

Ping! 'You have new mail'. You know it never ceases to amaze me how reassuring it is to know wherever I am working — at my desk in another of our offices or from home –  that ‘the sandwiches have arrived’.

This is probably one of the more innocent non-work related e-mails that arrive in my inbox each day.

Fortunately the more dubious ones tend to be caught in the spam manager where I can only see the titles that tell me that ‘mom called’ (I wonder what she wanted) or that ‘brokers are moving on this’.

‘Webcam girl’ remains a mystery to me as does what I would do with the ‘300 euros chips’ that I have apparently won in some competition that I can’t remember entering. Perhaps most frustratingly I guess that I will unfortunately never...
