We'll keep a welcome in the vales this land you knew will still be singing when you come home again to Wales — so the song goes.

What else does Wales mean to you? Leeks and daffodils the Millennium Stadium 'I am not a number' — Patrick McGoohan and The Prisoner Portmeirion Snowdonia but it may not necessarily mean tax. Similarly think of the south west and my immediate thought is cream teas Dartmoor Jamaica Inn Jane Austin (all right enough of the literary allusions) but again not tax.
