My client is a lecturer in finance. For some years he has been employed by a UK-based educational establishment, presenting courses there on about 60 days a year, as well as running a consultancy business in the UK. The college has now asked him to set up a new branch in Dubai, and he will be employed by a subsidiary set up for the purpose there.

The college has now asked him to set up a new branch in Dubai and he will be employed by a subsidiary set up for the purpose there.
It occurs to him that his consultancy business does not require him actually to live in the UK so it is possible that he could arrange his time as follows: four months in Dubai carrying out his duties for the college — rather less than a full-time job; perhaps one month in the UK (certainly fewer than 90 days with or without days of arrival and departure) continuing to do a little lecturing at the UK branch...
