This book described as an 'intelligence report' is an extensive legal analysis of the changes in the taxation of trusts which took effect following FA 2006. The opening chapter and the final epilogue contain the most forthright criticisms of changes which I have ever seen and probably will ever see. The intellectual reasoning behind the new inheritance tax provisions relating to interests in possession is denounced in the most vehement terms and while I applaud the author's willingness to speak his mind we can be sure that the remarks will cut no ice at HMRC policy division as their views are habitually closed to outside input except at the very margins of each new raft of proposals which...
