I am preparing the tax return of a partner in a professional practice located just down the road from my office. As is often the case in a small town, we have worked closely on the affairs of mutual clients and as a consequence are both business colleagues and social friends.

I know that earlier in the year he was entertained by another business client by being taken on what seems to have been an extravagant weekend attending a European round of the Formula One motor racing Grand Prix. This included flights accommodation meals tickets to the event and full hospitality.
