Situation normal…
I have read with great appreciation the articles and comments on the 'No to November' campaign which is being spearheaded by Taxation and I applaud this response on the profession's behalf. I was however particularly amused by Dawn Primarolo's comment that the proposed changes to the filing deadline date would 'promote online filing' (Taxation 18 May 2006). May I point out to Ms Primarolo that promotion of online filing does not require a change to the filing date but simply requires that HMRC continue with their current level of service.
Our experience of filing paper tax returns as a small practice with resources too scarce to even mention is that the return is incorrectly processed by HMRC or parts (or all) of the return are lost or entries are not keyed and as they do not then appear...
