As you know ever since the introduction of self assessment I have worked 70-hour weeks through December and January each year although you have kindly allowed me an extra hour for lunch on Christmas Day. I have fully understood that December is an exhausting month for you too as you trudge from client lunch to Christmas party carrying out the very necessary function of practice development by networking with clients over large quantities of food and drink. Your need to recover with a month's skiing each January was as you say more a medical necessity than a holiday.
