Unfairness

I read with interest the excellent article by John Tallon on 'Unfairness in The Tax System' (Taxation 27 January 2005). I write to support his thesis and offer the following extracts from comments made by Lord Justice Rose at the end of his judgment in the recent decision of the Court of Appeal Criminal Division in the case of R v Bradley 2005 EWCA Crim 20 a case which has nothing to do with the tax system but which also highlights frustration with the present legislative process:

 

'It is in the public interest that the criminal law and its procedures so far as possible be clear and straightforward so that all those directly affected in particular defendants victims the police the probation service jurors lawyers for defence...
