I do not remember the Inland Revenue making any announcement about changing the way that income tax self assessment taxpayers receive their tax repayments. Perhaps there was one and I have missed it or it was tucked away in a Revenue News Release or the website's 'What's New' section.

I do not remember the Inland Revenue making any announcement about changing the way that income tax self assessment taxpayers receive their tax repayments. Perhaps there was one and I have missed it or it was tucked away in a Revenue News Release or the website's 'What's New' section.
However the 2004 self assessment tax return 'forces' the taxpayer to receive a repayment via a bank or building society account (or to lie!). Leaving aside nominating someone else to receive the money if a self assessment tax repayment is due the only two options offered on page 8 of the tax return are:
Q19B.1 — repayment sent to your bank or building society account; or
Q19B.8 — if you do not...
