Foot and mouth

Customs will deal 'sympathetically with all businesses who are seriously affected by the foot and mouth outbreak' said Dawn Primarolo in reply to a written question. She added that where this resulted in a 'time to pay arrangement' to pay outstanding VAT default surcharges would not be imposed during the term of the agreement.

Personal service companies

The Chancellor was asked to make a statement about his policy on the taxation of personal service companies. Dawn Primarolo replied and said that the Government's policy on personal service company taxation helped to make the United Kingdom 'the most competitive environment for business in the world'. It did this by ensuring that 'the tax measures intended to support genuine businesses' could be targeted at those businesses...
