  • Remind clients that if they receive emails stating they are due a tax repayment this will be a scam and that they should forward the message to HMRC – the department is keen to hear about such scams and will take action to close them.
     
  • The First-tier Tribunal in G Weston ruled that a certificate of deposit was not a chargeable asset and so could not have negligible value status. Will this have any ramifications for any of your clients. Check any negligible value claims that have been submitted to ensure they meet the rules.
