HMRC datalab
The HMRC datalab was launched in May 2011 as a new research data centre. It allows approved academics to access anonymised HMRC data in a secure environment, with the aim of producing high quality research that benefits both the department and the wider academic community.
The datalab is located in London and to become an ‘approved academic researcher’ institutions must submit a proposal and complete a short training course.
Vilnius exchange
With effect from 12 March 2012, HMRC have designated the market known as NASDAQ OMX Vilnius, operated by AB NASDAQ OMX Vilnius, as a ‘recognised stock exchange’ under ITA 2007, s 1005(1)(b). A list of designated stock exchanges can be found online.
Annual allowance
HMRC have prepared additional guidance on the annual allowance for pension schemes tax relief.

A new cyber crime team to tackle tax fraud by organised criminals has been created by HMRC, using technology funded by the National Cyber Security Programme.
